Legend of Gatotkaca

The Hanung Bramantyo-directed Indonesian superhero movie blends contemporary narrative with traditional Javanese mythology. A young guy named Yudha learns he is Gatotkaca's reincarnation and gets entangled in an old feud between Pandawa and Kurawa ancestors. The film's striking images, thrilling action, and excellent computer-generated effects make it engrossing even with its dense plot and explanation. Ali Fikry and Yasmin Napper offer comic relief, and Rizky Nazar gives a strong performance as Yudha. The movie demonstrates how well wayang-inspired stories can be told to younger people. As the inaugural entry in the Satria Dewa universe, the film shows great potential in presenting wayang-inspired stories to younger audiences with a fresh, relatable flair.
