24 Hours with Gaspar
A dystopian neo-noir film by Yosep Anggi Noen, set in a chaotic post-apocalyptic world. The film follows detective Gaspar, who has only 24 hours to live due to a heart condition. He uses this time to find his missing childhood friend and steal a black box belonging to Wan Ali. The film explores the meaning of life, loss, and the absurdity of a world that has lost its values. Unlike other Indonesian films, Gaspar explores existential absurdity and a surreal world atmosphere while incorporating social criticism. Its unique approach, grounded in the chaotic yet familiar Indonesian city setting, makes it feel fresh and unique, especially in Southeast Asian cinema.
